Dear colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the first ESMS Mohs Surgery Course in Zürich. The course is co-hosted by the working group for Dermatosurgery of the Swiss Society of Dermatology and Venerology (SSDV / SGDV).

Whilst different techniques of Micrographic Surgery are practiced in many parts of Europe, Mohs Surgery is still not as widely used in this part of the world as it would deserve to be. The advantages it offers with lowest recurrence rates and best cosmetic outcomes due to minimal excision defects should be available to all patients with skin cancer. The most important aspects in performing good Mohs surgery are solid training under supervision of a Mohs trainer and experience. With this course, we hope to be able to create some interest for the Mohs technique amongst dermatologists and help you to get started with the training or improve your technique if you are already performing Mohs.

The course programme will include extensive coverage of different Mohs techniques, laboratory techniques, indications and reconstruction techniques. Furthermore, there will be several practical sessions, including live surgery demonstrations and group work with microscopy sessions, lab demonstrations and small group discussions about operative techniques.

We hope you will enjoy the course and your time in Zürich.

Best regards,

On behalf of the ESMS Board,

PD Dr. Severin Läuchli
President of ESMS
